Collections
Overview
The
Slusser Memorial Philatelic
Library houses a collection of over 30,000 books, journals,
catalogs,
photos, maps,
and other reference
items related to the philatelic history of the
United States,
especially the Western States,
U.S. postal
history and worldwide
philatelic
history.
Our
holdings can now be searched through an online catalog in
collaboration with
Pima
County Public Library. Additional records will continue to be
added, thanks to funding
from an LSTA
grant. To view our holdings, type "Postal History Foundation" as
a keyword
and click
"submit". To search within these results, try an Advanced Search.
Our
collection funds are
limited, but donations have enabled us to continue to add new
items.
In addition,
it is
possible to obtain
materials from other philatelic libraries, such as the
American
Philatelic Research Library (APRL) and the Rocky Mountain Philatelic Library
Monographs
The
books and monographs include
postal history and philatelic literature from around the
world.
Journals
The
library has
hundreds of journals from around the world, including some of the
premier
philatelic journals,
as well as
newsletters from small philatelic organizations. Some are
active
subscriptions, with a complete run, while
others are donations of specific volumes.
The
collection
includes
a large number of foreign journals as
well. At this time the library
collects two copies
of a number of
journals and issues beyond that are available for sale.
We hope to have a full
list of our journal titles available on this website in the future.
Civil War
The Civil War collection
consists
of in-house reading and reference materials dedicated to
the Civil
War. Materials from Peggy Slusser's original collection are
currently being
augmented by a recent
donation and all items are currently being catalogued for ease of
access.
