Philatelic Donations

We need (and like) Stamps

Your stamp collections and accumulations have value to the Postal History Foundation in many ways:

  • Preservation: Serious collection elements may become a part of our permanent, reference collections.
  • Sales: Select stamps and supplies may be sold to raise operating funds.  We organize and make sales at the Foundation, on the Internet, through auction houses and at ARIPEX each year.
  • Youth Education: Most stamps (after sorting by volunteers) flow to the Youth Education thru Stamps (YES) Program where they connect with “lesson plans” before reentering the outside world via school teachers and children.
  • Library: Your postal history archival material and philatelic literature (books, journals, collecting and auction catalogues) may help complete our holdings.  Duplicate items will be utilized in the YES program or sold to raise funds for the Foundation.

Make a Philatelic Donation

Please call us at 520-623-6652 if you are planning a philatelic donation. We will be pleased to answer any questions you may have and discuss arrangements for receiving your donation.

Of course, we will acknowledge our receipt of any philatelic material you have donated.  It is the responsibility of the donor to establish the fair market value of the donation. Remember that IRS regulations require that to deduct any non-cash donation with a value over $5,000, the donor must have an appraisal made by a qualified appraiser and attach IRS Form 8283.  The appraiser can assist in completing the form and must sign the Declaration of Appraiser section. The Postal History Foundation, as donee, must sign the form in acknowledgement of receipt of the described donation.
